Dear Sirs,

The World Peace Summit is a regular annual meeting of all who consider preserving world peace and the protection of the environment, health and young people to be essential human values. It is a great honour for us to host the 5th World Peace Summit 2006 in Slovenia. The event will take place at the Cankarjev dom cultural centre in Ljubljana from 13th to 15th October 2006. According to our experience at previous World Peace Summits, which have been hosted by Vienna, Sydney, Brno and Zagreb, we expect several thousand visitors and high representatives of state and other leaders.

The goal of the World Peace Summit is to promote respect for essential human values, which coincide with the Millenium Development Goals of the United Nations (UN), the principles contained in the World Document and the peace message of two of the most influential Indian spiritual luminaries – His Holiness Sri Swami Madhavananda and Mahatma Gandhi.

The main hosts of World Peace Summit are the Association of Yoga in Daily Life Slovenia and Slovenian Yoga In Daily Life Societies along with the World Peace Council. The patron is Ms Danica Simšič, Mayoress of Ljubljana. It is a special pleasure and honour for us that the World Peace Summit will be opened by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek.

On Friday, the conference will open with a multicultural concert at the Gallus Hall of the Cankarjev dom cultural centre, while Saturday will be dedicated to a peace conference consisting of discussions and round tables on peace, protection of environment and health. Special attention will be paid to young people and the creation of a better future.

During the conference, there will be an Exhibition of Slovenian companies and non-governmental organizations in the Great Reception Hall of the Cankarjev dom, including an exhibition of works of art "Peace is in Our Hands" by Slovenian primary school children, and a photo exhibition of famous Slovenian travellers. All over Slovenia there will be side-events to the main conference.
